Dawnflower sash This long strip of red Qadiran fabric is designed to wrap around your waist or head several times and be held in place by its ankh-shaped clasp of red gold. When worn, you remain comfortable even in warm environments as if protected by endure elements. If you unwrap it to its full length and hold the clasp in your hand, you can feather fall once per day, briefly leaving behind a trail of pleasant red-gold light as bright as a torch.

If Sarenrae is your patron, once per day by command, you can use the sash to cast cure light wounds. You may trigger this ability automatically if you are reduced to -1 hit points or less, though thereafter you must recharge it by placing it in strong sunlight for 8 continuous hours. At will, you may cause the clasp to shine as brightly as a torch or cease this illumination; the light is warm, feels like sunlight, and is enough to make sun-fearing creatures slightly uncomfortable but not enough to cause them harm.

Akkuya was born to a dead woman. Akkuya’s mother began her son’s birth at the setting of the sun on the 10th of Sarenith, otherwise known as the holy day Burning Blades. During the night their encampment suffered an attack by local bandits and by the time the dawning sun had left the horizon the community was almost entirely consumed in fire or left to bleed in the sand.
Akkuya was taken from his scorched mother’s body bearing a flame-shaped burn on the side of his head. The newborn was fostered with the remnants of the village and grew up knowing the favors and expectations that one assumed to be blessed by Sarenrae could provide.

When Akkuya turned 15 he discovered the inner fire that burned within him. An attack by gnolls brought conflict right in front of him and when his spear pierced the heart of a gnoll warrior a fire rippled from his hands and shimmered from his scar burning the gnoll from inside out. That event brought Akkuya to the attention of the Disciples of the Purifying Flame. A cult of the Dawnflower seeking to burn away all evil in fire, the cult saw Akkuya as a herald and a divine approval of their orthodoxy. The young man spent many years with them learning not only how to hear the message of Sarenrae but also how to embrace the cleansing power of Her Fire; no matter who it might hurt.

Akkuya might have grown to assume leadership of the Disciples but in his 25th year he had a revelation one dawn from the Dawnflower herself. As pure empowering flames exploded out from the young man he saw how far from Sarenrae’s tenets of redemption and mercy the Followers had fallen and awoke to discover himself redeemed and sanctified as a holy warrior to the goddess of the sun. What ensued can only be described as a schism in the Followers. Many heard the new paladin’s words and left to atone and find ways to recognize the power to redeem others while many more sought to bring purification by fire to those new heretics that they caught.

Akkuya left alone in order to find new purpose and preach all of the tenants of Sarenrae. He is still a warrior as She is and has no compunction in delivering fire to the unrepentant and wicked but he has also found mercy, the capacity to allow the miracle of atonement time to dawn within sinners and even recognize that good is not always easy to see within others.

In due time of investigating evil and helping others while avoiding the Purifying Flame Akkuya was overwhelmed and taken prisoner only to be rescued by Mustafa the Fist and brought to Kelmarane where he worked to redeem and reconsecrate a temple to Sarenrae there.

He still considers himself an Acolyte of the Purifying Flame but seeks to redeem that cause as well as himself through action and example.
